OH WHAT A WEEK IT WAS (MAY 1-7, 2012)

Oh what a wild ride Officer Kevin Knippel led us on between May Day and May 7 - Audrey's deathiversary.  He wreaked so much havoc, Heidi began openly questioning whether it's intentional:

Some highlights of the first week of May:

1) He only peed on the toilet seat one more time, because really, that's beneath him. From the very beginning, he made it crystal clear to me that he was taking Urine Harassment to a whole new level. He pees on Heidi. No, that's not a typo. He lets me know it too, regularly, always with a big smirk. She was upset at first, but she loves him, so she puts up with it.

2) Kevin, despite being trained and having worked in kitchens, suddenly scorched two turkey burgers in my iron skillet - with absolutely no oil in the pan. Because i've never actually TRIED to ruin an iron skillet before, i'd never seen a meal's mess need more than a hot soaking to heal the pan... but it's now a week later, and Kevin's calamity still scars my skillet.

3) He suddenly began leaving the refrigerator wide door open, an old trick of Ashton's (the guy who tried to arrest me).

4) My phone's charging cord somehow got sliced while i was at work:

5) My guitar case had an entire section of stitching ripped out, and the top hinge completely torn off... and it was fine a week earlier, when we moved into the motel in La Jolla... suddenly it just happened, one day, while i was at work:

6) Suddenly, while he was playing Heidi's XBox (and after he'd 'accidentally' left it on all night), it stopped working, and showed an error message called "the three rings of death". Heidi was apoplectic that he'd broken her XBox, and even more upset when he looked up the remedy online, and told her it said the XBox needs to be brought in to be professionally serviced. She was devastated, as we couldn't afford to get it fixed... but, on a hunch, a few hours later, i looked up the error message myself, and sure enough, it merely means the XBox is overheated, and it's usually fine after it cools off. The top Google searches all clearly state the three rings of death DON'T usually require professional repair... but Kevin sure got Heidi all in a tizzy, until i neutralized things with the truth.

7) One day, Kevin used up all the milk while Heidi and I were doing errands. Later that evening, Kevin began vocally craving cereal, and got Heidi to want cereal, only to go into the kitchen and find there was no milk... so Kevin suggested they go to the store for milk... When they got outside, Kevin went up to a guy standing right there outside our hotel, and asked him the closest store. The guy asked them what they're going to the store for. They say "Milk"... So he says, "Well, I've got milk up in my place..." They go up there, to his fancy apartment, and he begins softening Heidi up by talking about this cool recording studio he uses... and then the evening ends with him trying to get Heidi to do porn, which she refused, like she slways does. You can clearly see how Kevin methodically 'milked' the entire encounter along... sorry for the pun.

8) Something they thought would upset me, but it didn't: Kevin suddenly got all into talking Heidi into buying hair dye... multiple colors, bleaching, etc (paid for by a payday loan he convinced her to get, which did upset me)... while i am philosophically opposed to hair dying products, and the chemicals are harmful, i completely understand Heidi's generation's love with altering their appearance, and i don't discourage her exploring her hair dying whims as she builds her own unique identity. So, content to let this one roll off my shoulders, I even let Heidi dye part of my beard blue.

9) Heidi wanted to try putting the cat's litterbox in the bathroom, as punishment for the cat peeing in the closet (because her litterbox was full)... i took the catbox out of the bathroom in the morning, and put it back where it used to be, because if the cat needs to pee while the door is closed, she's going to get confused, and pee somewhere we don't want her to. Later that day, i texted Heidi, explaining that cats can't understand to wait for someone to get out of the bathroom... and unless there's a kittydoor on the bathroom door, it isn't a good idea to keep the catbox in there... especially with Heidi's long showers. That afternoon, Kevin got her riled up about not doing everything i tell her, and he got her convinced putting the catbox back in the bathroom was a good idea, so she did. Too tired to argue when i got home, i went to sleep... only to be woken at 2:30 am by the cat jumping around... because, for the first time since we'd all lived together, Kevin left the bathroom door closed shut when he went to bed... and the toilet seat was up, so it wasn't to hide a poop smell.  It was just to cause conflict.
Then, the big finale:

On May 7th (before he got Heidi to break our 4pm plans to distribute her mother's ashes into the ocean), Kevin's tortured the cat continuously, throughout the day... spinning the poor thing mercilessly with the laser pointer, every 30-45 minutes or so, all day long... while i laid there resting in bed (i took the 7th off from work). Helpless to make it stop without starting a huge fight, i diligently documented it instead. Here's a small installment of what he did all day:

But then, Zack 3 (more on Zack 1 & 2 another time), a guy they met the night before, who has a room in our motel, knocks and asks to come in, saying he was locked out of his room & the front desk lady is too busy to give him a spare key... he stays for two hours. He plugs in his phone to charge. He wanders out every 30 minutes or so, then comes back and says the front desk lady is still too busy to let him into his room... and he begins taking turns spinning the cat. First, he goes looking for her...

(notice their conversation about how hard they spun her the previous night)

Then, a while later, he intentionally gets her to jump on my crotch, then spins her for a while, then tries to get her to claw at the letter hanging on the door (in which i called out Kevin for leaving the bathroom door shut all night mere hours after my warning not to keep the cat from her litterbox):

The poor cat was dizzy as hell:

After they finally left (on the trip Kevin set up to conflict with Audrey's ash ceremony) Mama's slept like that, holding her head, for 5 hours, never getting off the bed... occasionally re-positioning herself weakly... her eyes were crossed, and she was uncharacteristically silent.

In tandem with all Kevin's craziness, i also heard from my good ol' high school "buddy" Aaron... the one who's been saying he's just about to give me $4,000... for a year and a half.  On Sat, 5/5/12, he called me to say he was literally in his car, on the way to pick up a big check, and he'd either call me that night, or monday the 7th... But there might be a 3 day hold, so he might not be able to give me any money until wednesday the 9th.  Well, he didn't call back that night, or monday, or tuesday... on wednesday i texted him to say my spidey sense was tellin' me it was gonna stretch into a 5 day hold... he didn't respond...

And we ran out of money... Heidi & Kevin split off in a separate direction, and i went my own way...  Last i heard, they were camping somewhere by the riverbed... I stayed in a hostel by the beach for a few nights, then slept on the beach Sunday the 13th...

On Monday, May 14, Aaron drove down from OC, showed up and picked my homeless ass up, and drove me to a quasi-job interview i had set up at the political consulting group that i've been petitioning for... He dropped me off and told me to call him when i was done, but that it might take 15 minutes or so for him to come get me, because the closest San Diego branch of his bank might be far away, and he was tryin' really, really hard to get that check to clear.  Even though he had driven out to get the check on May 5, he didn't deposit it until May 12.  After driving me around some errands, saving me many hours of bus time, he said he had to head back up to OC, because he spoke to someone at his local OC branch, and she was going to clear the check at that branch for him, at 4:30.   That was five days ago.  He called me on wednesday to say "what's mine is yours dude, i'm gonna give you a buncha money as soon as the check clears."  So far, still crickets.

It's been like this every couple of months or so - FOR A YEAR AND A HALF... His philanthropic teasing always coinciding with a discernable spike in stress from the narcs on the home front...

Am i crazy to think this is abnormal behavior?
